Florida: Tropical Storm Fay Threatens Florida Keys
Thousands are being evacuated from the Florida Keys today as the path of Tropical Storm Fay takes aim at the Florida coast. Vacationers on the keys are the primary evacuees but mobile home owners and residents in low-lying areas are also leaving.
Weather experts are expecting Fay to near hurricane strength by the time it hits central Cuba tonight. The storm is predicted to descend on the Florida Keys on Monday. A hurricane watch has already been put into effect along the Keys and along parts of the Florida mainland’s west coastline.
